a ripe from Yiwu for a little change. Cloudy soup. the forest is here inside, woody, mushroomy. not too strong but very present taste, even i feel some burned caramel after few brews. Not too sweet a well, that’s i like, some ripe are too sweet for me but this one is very well balanced to me.
A smooth and full flavor, not bitter. A touch of chocolate and wood. No unpleasant aftertaste, as sometimes occurs with Ripe Pu-Erh. A classic tea for everyday use. I brewed the tea in my Yixing teapot (the one with the broken and glued lid).
I decided to try this Yiwu tea, and it was absolutely superb! Smooth, rich flavor with no bitterness and a lovely sweet aftertaste. What impressed me even more was the amazing service — careful packaging, fast shipping, and clearly a lot of heart in your work. Now I’m your loyal customer.
Yiwu mini cake – sample: I found this tea quite tricky. For best results, make sure to follow the steeping instructions (R-5-5-5-10-10-10-25-40-80-120-150 / 110ml gaiwan). I started with my usual (my only) 80ml gaiwan, but quickly decided to steep this mini cake into my tea pitcher, and use both my 80ml gaiwan and my 50ml teacup as vessels, and it was much better. The wet leaves have a woody and bright floral aroma. The tea itself is thick and smooth, and has a bold, woody taste, with a touch of bitterness. There is a glutinous rice, dark chocolate aftertaste, with the bitterness being replaced by sweetness after a few infusions. I did not find the aged puerh taste I am so fond of, but the woody notes and the dark chocolate-like feeling in the mouth are addictive. I might order more!
This is the best ripe mini-cake I’ve ever had. I was a bit worried at first because a slight fishy smell came off it in the rinse, but there was no hint of it after rinsing. It was strong but smooth throughout all 11 steepings, only weakening some in the last two. The lovely woody aroma coming off the leaves had a hint of spice to them. The mouthfeel was thick and smooth in a velvety way like high quality hot cocoa. Its mild sweetness is hard to categorize, but it had a lingering dark chocolate aftertaste that makes it the perfect afternoon tea to have with cakes.
